Maria Ana Bobone presents ARCO

àCapela · MACAM

Fourteen songs recorded mostly with voice and piano, with Bruno Mira on Portuguese guitar at a few moments. Real sounds come in along the way, the sea, the knife grinder, the threshing, inspired by Michel Giacometti’s recordings.

The title comes from a small Lisbon street where Maria Ana grew up. The arch is the passage between the Portugal we are ceasing to hear and the one still to come.
This album is born from what was left between the notes. The landscape sings too.

The repertoire draws on Ary dos Santos, Fernando Pessoa, Manuel Alegre, Alexandre O’Neill, Zeca Afonso, Fausto, Fernando Tordo, João Braga, João Paulo Esteves da Silva and Amália.
Fourteen songs. Sou Rosa comes out first; the rest arrive with the album.
The album is presented live on the day it comes out, at àCapela in Lisbon.
